Glass Recycling FAQs

Why can't I recycle glass in my curbside cart?

Glass does not belong in your curbside cart because it creates significant challenges for our recycling systems.

Contamination & Damage

Glass breaks easily, contaminating other recyclables and damaging sorting equipment.

Safety & Cost

Picking up glass separately would require manual dumping, increase injury risks, and increase equipment costs.

Environmental Impact

Adding separate trucks just for glass collection would increase our overall carbon footprint.

Swift delivery & setup

Glass is less than 6% of landfill trash, while paper, plastic, and metal make up nearly 20%, making them a higher environmental priority.

What to Do With Glass Items

Glass Bottle Recycling Drop Off Locations

Because glass breaks and contaminates other recyclables in the cart, it must be handled separately. The glass collected at our free drop-off sites goes directly to a local glass recycler.

Give Glassware and Dishes a Second Life

Glassware cannot be recycled with standard bottles and jars at our drop-off locations. Broken dishes and glasses must go in the trash, but items in good condition can be donated.
